The aim of this research, of quantitative approach and with cross-sectional design of correlacional/causal type, is to compare the written narrative production of third grade students in public institutions from conventional (GC) and bilingual education (GE). The data collection instruments are: mating population sample instruments (general information questionnaire and IQ test called “Test de Matrices Progresivas Escala Coloreada de Raven” and written narrative production test. This fieldwork was conducted in a public educational institution with implementation of bilingual education and a conventional public school in the department of Quindío. The results showed the superiority of GC on GE corrective measures and linguistic progression. However, both groups had similar results relative with narrative structure. It was concluded that these results may be due to the lack of accumulation of bilingual experience and the minimum threshold of competence that the bilingual subject achieved in both languages.
